A concerned member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Eric Kwesi Taylor, has called on the party’s leadership to rein in communicators, supporters and social media activists who engage in personal attacks, insults and defamatory comments against senior members, particularly former presidential aspirant Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.
In a press statement titled “NPP and the Mr. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong Factor,” Mr. Taylor said the party’s chances of returning to power in 2028 would depend not only on its campaign strategy but also on its ability to promote unity, discipline and constructive engagement within its ranks.
He argued that political disagreements should be expressed respectfully and that internal debates should focus on ideas rather than personal attacks.
According to him, party leaders must take a firm stand against abusive conduct by communicators, supporters and social media personalities whose actions risk deepening divisions within the NPP.
Mr. Taylor appealed directly to Mr. Kennedy Agyapong to remain committed to the party despite past challenges, describing him as a valuable political figure with broad support both within and outside the NPP.
He said the party continued to benefit from Mr. Agyapong’s experience, influence and contribution to grassroots mobilisation and urged him to put aside past grievances for the greater good of the party.
“I therefore appeal to Mr. Agyapong to remain focused on the bigger picture, set aside past grievances and continue contributing to the growth and success of the party we all cherish,” he stated.
Mr. Taylor, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Penyman Group Limited, described Mr. Agyapong as his business mentor whose entrepreneurial success and political career have inspired many young people.
He praised the former Assin Central Member of Parliament for his entrepreneurial achievements, job creation initiatives and willingness to speak openly on national issues.
While acknowledging that he may not agree with all of Mr. Agyapong’s views or actions, Mr. Taylor stressed that no leader is without flaws and urged party members to appreciate his contributions to the NPP.
He also appealed to the youth of the party to refrain from allowing themselves to be used to attack Mr. Agyapong or any other senior member, warning that such conduct could undermine their own political future.
According to him, the NPP has enough experienced leaders, including former Presidents, former presidential aspirants, national executives and party elders, who are capable of resolving internal disagreements through dialogue and established party structures.
Mr. Taylor further urged party members across all levels to deepen their engagement with communities through youth empowerment, women’s development, volunteerism and job creation initiatives, arguing that such efforts would do more to rebuild public confidence than internal feuds.
He concluded by calling on all members to safeguard the unity and future of the party as it prepares for the 2028 general elections, saying only a united NPP would be well positioned to regain power.
