In a bid to strengthen community ties and drive forward local development, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya North, Mr. Mba Zechariah Alenbila, has emphasized the pivotal role of faith-based collaboration in fostering unity and progress.
Speaking at an inter-denominational service held at Barekese to mark Ghana’s National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, Mr. Alenbila commended the active participation of religious groups and residents, describing it as a strong indicator of community readiness to embrace shared responsibility for development.
“When the church, the mosque, and traditional leaders come together with the people in this manner, it shows that we are ready to unite behind a common goal — the transformation of our district,” Mr. Alenbila declared.
The gathering brought together clergy, local government officials, traditional leaders, and ordinary citizens to offer collective prayers of gratitude for national peace and divine guidance for Ghana’s future.
Development Through Unity
Mr. Alenbila used the platform to stress the importance of social cohesion as the foundation for sustained progress in sectors such as education, healthcare, sanitation, and agriculture. He assured the community that local levies would be channeled transparently into visible infrastructure and service delivery.
“We will ensure your contributions are reflected in physical projects you can see and benefit from in your own communities,” he pledged.
He called on all residents to replicate the unity seen at the event in their daily lives, noting that peace and cooperation were critical for effective governance and socio-economic growth.
Faith-Based Leadership Encouraged
Delivering the sermon, Apostle Ebenezer Ofori Akuffo, Founder and General Overseer of Christ Disciples Ministry and Secretary to the Local Council of Churches, drew inspiration from Psalm 33:12, highlighting the blessings of a nation that places its trust in God.
He called on Ghanaians to make spiritual values a cornerstone of leadership and civic engagement, adding that divine guidance should not be sidelined in matters of governance and development.
“When leaders and citizens alike depend on God’s wisdom, the result is progress grounded in justice and compassion,” Apostle Akuffo said.
Moving Beyond the Pulpit
The event was more than a spiritual gathering — it served as a platform to galvanize stakeholders around a people-driven development agenda. Residents expressed hope that the unity displayed would inspire greater collaboration between citizens and local authorities.
As the National Day of Prayer concluded, the prevailing message from Barekese was clear: unity rooted in faith and mutual respect is not just a religious ideal — it is the engine of local transformation.
