Former presidential staffer Dennis Miracles Aboagye has revealed that he wrote to the Chief Justice about what he believes are concerns regarding the Judiciary’s relationship with the Executive.
According to Mr Aboagye, he sent the letter about a month ago to formally express his concerns about the perceived closeness between the two arms of government.
Speaking on JoyNews, he said the purpose of the letter was to raise issues he believed could affect public confidence in the Judiciary.
“I wrote a letter to His Lordship… where I itemised my worry about his relationship and his romance with the executive, and the fact that it’s becoming too glaring,” he said.
Mr Aboagye disclosed that although he did not receive a personal response from the Chief Justice, the Judicial Secretary subsequently issued a statement that addressed some of the concerns he had raised.
“I thought, okay, it’s fine. At least they’ve clarified certain things,” he stated.
He maintained that his intervention was motivated by the need to protect the independence of the Judiciary and ensure that public confidence in the judicial system remains intact.
According to him, the Judiciary must be seen as independent and impartial in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.
