Dr. Angela Dwamena-Aboagye, a tireless advocate for women and children affected by domestic and sexual abuse, has been named the overall winner of MTN Heroes of Change Season 7, spotlighting her 25-year mission through The Ark Foundation.
The award recognizes Dr. Dwamena-Aboagye’s exceptional leadership in gender advocacy and social justice, a journey that has led to the establishment of safe havens, legal support services, and policy reform efforts aimed at protecting survivors of abuse across Ghana.
At the grand finale of the MTN Heroes of Change initiative, she was honoured alongside other remarkable Ghanaians who are making significant strides in education, health, and economic empowerment. Each category winner received GH¢ 60,000 and a plaque in recognition of their grassroots impact.
The MTN Heroes of Change platform, now in its seventh season, continues to uplift individuals whose commitment to social change goes beyond rhetoric, driving meaningful transformation in underserved communities.
MTN Ghana CEO, Mr. Stephen Blewett, used the occasion to reinforce the company’s belief in digital empowerment as a catalyst for societal progress. “As a technology provider, we recognize the importance of supporting initiatives that improve lives and empower communities. Innovation and compassion must go hand in hand,” he said.
To further encourage civic participation, MTN awarded GH¢ 5,000 to individuals who nominated the top 10 finalists, a move the company hopes will deepen national engagement with grassroots change-making.
The night served not just to honour heroes, but to renew a collective commitment to building a fairer, more inclusive society—one powered by collaboration between corporate actors, civic leaders, and compassionate citizens.
