Mr. Paul Kodwo Kwaw, a contender for the position of National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Secretary in the Ellembelle Constituency, has outlined a reform-focused agenda centred on transparency, inclusiveness and improved grassroots welfare as he appeals for support ahead of the party’s internal elections.
In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Nkroful, Mr. Kodwo Kwaw, who also serves as Assembly Member for the Kikam and Asemko Electoral Area, urged delegates to endorse his bid, arguing that his administrative experience positions him to strengthen the constituency’s internal structures.
He said his leadership approach would prioritise effective communication between the constituency executive and grassroots members, including the introduction of both physical and digital town hall platforms to improve feedback and participation.
According to him, such mechanisms would ensure that concerns from party branches are properly documented and transmitted to leadership for action.
Mr. Kodwo Kwaw also pledged to promote transparency in party administration by routinely sharing key information such as party manifestos, government programmes and employment-related opportunities with branch executives.
On welfare matters, he proposed what he described as a more equitable system for distributing political and development-related opportunities, including government appointments, scholarships and job placements.
He said he would work closely with the Member of Parliament, District Chief Executive and other stakeholders to track and communicate access to state and party-related opportunities to ensure fairness among grassroots members.
To improve economic support for members, Mr. Kodwo Kwaw proposed linking party members to micro-grant schemes, agricultural extension services and cooperative initiatives, aimed at strengthening livelihoods within the constituency.
He also suggested the establishment of a constituency welfare fund, to be financed through contributions from party patrons, appointees and beneficiaries of political appointments, to support members during emergencies such as medical cases and funerals.
On capacity building, the aspirant said he would collaborate with constituency executives to organise training programmes in vocational skills, business development and political leadership.
He added that the initiative would include political education platforms designed to prepare members for active participation in party activities, including election monitoring and potential leadership roles.
Mr. Kodwo Kwaw further promised to ensure greater inclusion of young people and women in decision-making structures, stressing the need to remove barriers that limit participation in party leadership.
He described his vision as one that seeks to strengthen internal democracy, improve welfare systems and build a more responsive constituency organisation ahead of future elections.
