In a candid interview with Joy FM following his presentation of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Statement, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson acknowledged that managing Ghana’s economy this year has been especially demanding.
Describing 2025 as a tough year for the country’s economic team, Dr. Forson stressed the gravity of the challenges faced but underscored the government’s unwavering focus on overcoming them.
“We won’t shy away from admitting it—this year has been tough for us as economic managers. But we remain concentrated and are actively addressing the issues at hand,” he stated.
The remarks reflect the ongoing reality of the Mahama administration’s efforts to stabilise the economy amidst global uncertainties and domestic pressures. Earlier in Parliament, Dr. Forson laid out a series of fiscal and structural reforms designed to reignite growth, strengthen financial management, and build economic resilience.
Despite the difficulties, the Minister expressed confidence that these measures will set Ghana on a path toward sustainable recovery and long-term stability, reaffirming the government’s commitment to prudent economic stewardship.
