Franklin Cudjoe, the outspoken President of IMANI Africa, has sharply criticized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s recent comments defending President Akufo-Addo’s legacy, rejecting any notion of future vindication for the president.
Bawumia, the NPP’s 2024 flagbearer, recently compared Akufo-Addo’s leadership to that of former President Kufuor, suggesting that just as Kufuor’s tenure was ultimately vindicated after initial criticism, Akufo-Addo’s legacy would similarly be praised by future generations.
However, Cudjoe, a vocal critic of the current administration, did not hold back in his response, saying, “No way. It will never happen. From now, Akufo-Addo remains the worst terrible leader since 1844.”
Cudjoe’s bold remarks come amid ongoing concerns over the Akufo-Addo administration’s handling of Ghana’s economic crisis, which has left many citizens disillusioned. His comments highlight the deepening divide in the country over the assessment of Akufo-Addo’s leadership, with some viewing it as disastrous for the nation’s long-term stability.
The debate over Akufo-Addo’s legacy continues to intensify as Ghana faces mounting economic difficulties, with Cudjoe’s response serving as a reminder of the fierce criticism directed at the president as the nation prepares for the 2024 elections.
