The ongoing strike by the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has disrupted healthcare delivery at the University of Education Hospital in Winneba, forcing the temporary suspension of its Outpatient Department (OPD) services.
The hospital announced that patients requiring outpatient consultations would not be attended to until the industrial action is called off.
In a notice issued to patients and visitors, the facility said the suspension would remain in place until further notice.
“Please be informed that Outpatient Department (OPD) services have been suspended due to the ongoing GAUA strike,” the hospital stated.
The development means that routine medical consultations and other outpatient services have been affected as the strike continues to impact operations within public university institutions.
Hospital authorities apologised to patients and the general public for the inconvenience caused by the suspension.
The facility also advised patients to contact the hospital administration for further information regarding the affected services.
“OPD services will resume when the strike is called off,” the notice added.
The suspension at the University of Education Hospital highlights the broader impact of the GAUA industrial action, which has affected administrative and service delivery operations across public universities in Ghana.
