The Education Ministry has invited the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) and the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) to an urgent meeting on Monday, October 12, in a bid to resolve the administrators’ ongoing strike.
The industrial action has affected academic and administrative operations at several tertiary institutions. The University of Ghana and Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology have postponed their reopenings.
In a circular signed by Ministry Press Secretary Hashmin Mohammed, the government said the meeting would provide an opportunity for dialogue through established negotiation channels. It expressed hope the discussions would lead to an early return to normal operations.
The Ministry urged all parties to engage in good faith, citing the strike’s impact on students, university communities and the wider national interest. It also called on GAUA’s leadership to use the meeting to work with stakeholders towards resolving the dispute.
