The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released funds to Senior High Schools (SHSs) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTSs) nationwide to facilitate the purchase of perishable food items for students.
According to the GES, the disbursement covers the period from March 1 to September 4, 2026, with the funds already transferred into the accounts of the various schools.
In a letter dated July 15, 2026, addressed to all Regional Directors of Education, the Service instructed them to notify heads of schools to access and utilise the funds responsibly to support student feeding.
The GES further directed school authorities to ensure proper accountability for the expenditure and comply with all financial management procedures.
Heads of SHSs and SHTSs have also been instructed to submit official receipts acknowledging receipt of the funds to the Director-General of the GES through their respective Regional Accountants.
The directive was signed by the Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality Assurance and Improvement, Munawaru Issahaque, on behalf of the Director-General.
The release of the funds is expected to ease the procurement of perishable food items required for the feeding of SHS Two and SHS Three students during the academic period.
The intervention forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ghana Education Service to ensure uninterrupted feeding in second-cycle institutions and support the effective implementation of government education programmes.
