Haruna Iddrisu says government has secured enough funding to end recurring food shortages that have disrupted learning under Ghana’s Free Senior High School programme.
Speaking at the commissioning of the National Teaching Council regional office in Tamale, the Education Minister said a review of the programme identified student feeding as one of the biggest operational challenges affecting schools. He noted that shortages had previously forced some schools to suspend academic activities and send students home before the end of term.
Mr. Iddrisu assured parents and students that those disruptions should no longer happen, stressing that government has strengthened financing through Ghana Education Trust Fund to guarantee a steady supply of food and sustain the flagship policy.
