The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has launched an investigation into an allegation of extortion involving a Customs officer stationed at the Kotoka International Airport.
The investigation follows a social media video by TikToker Lady Rev. Adwoa Pretty, who alleged that a Customs officer collected GH¢600 from her without issuing an official receipt.
The GRA, in a public notice, said it had taken note of the allegations and initiated investigations to establish the circumstances surrounding the reported incident.
The Authority assured the public that the outcome of the investigation would be made public once the process is completed.
“The GRA wishes to assure the public that the Authority has commenced investigation into the matter and will update the general public on the findings when completed,” it said.
The investigation comes as the revenue authority reiterates its commitment to strengthening accountability and professional conduct among its officers.
The GRA said it remains committed to upholding integrity, accountability and professionalism in the discharge of its mandate.
The Authority’s response signals that the allegation will be subjected to an internal examination to establish whether any Customs officer breached the Authority’s procedures or financial controls.
The allegation remains unproven pending the outcome of the investigation.
