Chief Executive Officer of the GRATIS Foundation, Dr. Isaac Adeabsah, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting education and youth empowerment in rural communities by donating GH¢30,000 to support 60 newly admitted Senior High School (SHS) students from Nante in the Kintampo South District of the Bono East Region.
The donation, presented at a brief ceremony in Nante, is intended to help the beneficiaries — all natives of the community — purchase items on their SHS prospectus as they begin their secondary education.
Dr. Adeabsah, a native of Nante himself, said the gesture was a personal act of gratitude and social responsibility toward the community that shaped his formative years. “This is the community that birthed and nurtured me, and I feel obligated to give back by supporting the education and proper upbringing of its children,” he told the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
He noted that financial challenges often discourage bright rural students from pursuing higher education, expressing optimism that the donation would ease the burden on parents and inspire students to aim higher. “This support is to inspire confidence and determination among the students, despite the challenges of their geographical location,” he added.
Reflecting on his own upbringing, Dr. Adeabsah recounted how he overcame adversity to achieve academic and professional success. “I was born and raised here. I walked the same dusty roads to school and sat under the same trees for lessons. But I refused to let those conditions define me. I worked hard to achieve my dreams,” he said.
He urged the beneficiaries to emulate that resilience by remaining disciplined, focused, and goal-oriented. “Education is the most powerful equalizer,” he emphasized. “If I can come from this same village and rise through multiple academic disciplines, then every child here can do the same.”
Dr. Adeabsah also called on teachers and community leaders to help nurture the talents of young people, saying every child, regardless of background, possesses unique potential that can be developed with the right guidance.
Parents and guardians of the beneficiaries expressed deep gratitude to Dr. Adeabsah for his benevolence, describing the gesture as a timely intervention that would relieve them of financial stress and motivate their children to take their studies seriously.
The GRATIS Foundation CEO pledged to continue supporting education and youth development initiatives in the Bono East Region, adding that empowering students through education remains the key to transforming rural communities.
