Former Lands and Natural Resources Minister and Damongo MP, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has paid glowing tribute to the late Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru, remembering him as a man who built bridges of unity that transcended politics.
Speaking on Friday, August 8, 2025, the legislator described Alhaji Muniru — his uncle and long-time family confidant — as a rare public servant whose dedication to Ghana’s progress was matched only by his compassion for people from all walks of life.
Despite hailing from opposing political camps, Mr. Jinapor revealed that their relationship was rooted in deep mutual respect and shared commitment to Gonjaland and northern Ghana.
“I would often tease him about almost taking the seat from me in 2024, and we would all laugh,” he recounted. “Politics never stood in the way of our friendship and family bond.”
Tracing Alhaji Muniru’s career, Mr. Jinapor lauded his steady rise through public service — from director at the Ministry of Health, to a role on the Hajj Board, to serving as Minister of State under President Mahama, before assuming his final national security post.
The Damongo MP also shared a personal memory from his teenage years, when Alhaji Muniru helped his family secure a place for his grandmother on the Hajj pilgrimage. “That was when I truly saw his humane side,” he recalled.
Only two weeks before his death, the late official had visited Mr. Jinapor in his office with his son for an in-depth discussion on issues they both cared about — a meeting the MP now treasures as one of their last moments together.
Alhaji Muniru was among eight people who perished in the August 6 military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region. His burial, in accordance with Islamic rites, is scheduled for Sunday, August 10, at the Military Cemetery in Accra, preceded by Janazah prayers at the Forecourt of the State House.
