Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Tano North Constituency of the Ahafo Region have renewed their confidence in Mr Kakari Appau by re-electing him as constituency chairman.
Mr Appau secured 669 votes in the constituency executive elections held at Tanoso, defeating his two challengers, Mr Janamah Biiyien, who obtained 205 votes, and Mr Ebenezer Acheampong Afful, who polled 194 votes.
The elections, supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC), were conducted peacefully, with delegates electing new executives to steer the affairs of the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Nana Asare Gyamfi-Kumanin Ameyaw was elected First Vice Chairman after receiving 451 votes, while Mr Victor Afrane emerged as Second Vice Chairman with 518 votes.
Other newly elected executives include Mr Lewis Ansah, who secured the Communication Officer position with 776 votes, and Mr Kwabena Afful, who won the Organizer slot with 718 votes.
Mr Abdul Karim Suleman was elected NASARA Organizer with 553 votes, while Mr Kwabena Antwi Bosiako won the Treasurer position after polling 424 votes.
Mr Derrick Owusu emerged as Deputy Secretary with 551 votes, and Mr Romeo Baokye Ansah was elected Youth Organizer with 657 votes.
For the Women Organizer position, Charlotte Baffour Awuah secured victory with 604 votes, defeating Stella Serwaa and Alhassan Asia.
Speaking after the elections, the newly elected Communication Officer, Mr Ansah, commended delegates, party leadership and stakeholders for ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
He described the outcome as a victory for the entire constituency rather than individual contestants and called on members to unite behind the new executives to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures.
“This victory isn’t for the individual contestants, but for the entire Tano North Constituency,” he said.
Mr Ansah urged party supporters to work collectively towards rebuilding the NPP’s fortunes and positioning the party for success in the 2028 general elections.
He also welcomed the decision by the party to include the Communication Officer portfolio among constituency executive positions, saying the move would improve information flow and enhance communication within the constituency.
The newly elected executives are expected to lead the party’s organisational activities and mobilisation efforts as the NPP begins preparations towards the next general election.
