Public dissatisfaction with the government’s performance under the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative could influence how Ghanaians respond to plans to establish regional tribunals, pollster Mussah Dankwah has suggested.
According to findings from the June 2026 Global InfoAnalytics national tracking poll, ORAL was among the areas of government performance that received the lowest ratings from respondents.
The poll found that 29 percent of respondents identified ORAL as an area where the government had performed poorly.
The initiative ranked alongside dumsor and behind employment, the economy and other major concerns identified by respondents.
Employment recorded the highest level of dissatisfaction at 44 percent, followed by the economy at 32 percent, while the fight against galamsey recorded 26 percent.
Commenting on the findings, Mr Dankwah questioned whether public perceptions of ORAL could affect the reception of the government’s proposal to establish regional tribunals.
“In the June 2026 national tracking poll, ORAL was the fourth worst area of performance for the government,” he said.
He subsequently raised the question of whether the public’s assessment of the initiative could influence attitudes towards the proposed tribunals.
“Could voters’ perception of ORAL performance impact on how they view the introduction of the regional tribunals?” he asked.
The comments come amid ongoing discussions about the proposed regional tribunals and the government’s broader approach to tackling corruption and recovering allegedly misappropriated public assets.
The poll findings suggest that public confidence in existing government initiatives could play a role in shaping perceptions of new institutional measures introduced to pursue accountability and recover state resources.
