President John Dramani Mahama is set to convene African leaders, business executives and multilateral partners in Addis Ababa on Saturday, February 14, for a high-level dialogue aimed at advancing his Accra Reset agenda ahead of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
The Presidency, in a statement, announced that the side event — dubbed “Addis Reckoning” — will serve as a strategic platform to refine proposals geared toward accelerating Africa’s economic transformation and institutional reform.
Central to the discussions will be the development of a new continental framework for free movement and talent circulation, supported by a digital passport system intended to ease mobility and deepen regional integration.
Participants are also expected to deliberate on technological innovations to boost value addition within Africa’s mineral sector, as well as reforms in global health governance structures to ensure greater equity and responsiveness to the continent’s needs.
The dialogue will further explore partnerships between African countries and leading nations of the Global South to harness artificial intelligence and emerging technologies for development.
According to the statement, other members of the Accra Reset Presidential Council — including champions of the Sovereign Prosperity Spheres concept — will join President Mahama to outline practical pathways for implementation.
The event is anticipated to shape conversations at the broader AU summit, positioning the Accra Reset initiative as a blueprint for Africa’s next phase of growth and self-determined prosperity.
