President John Dramani Mahama is set to kickstart a bold economic empowerment drive today, Monday, April 28, 2025, with the launch of the Adwumawura Programme in the Ashanti Region.
The initiative, a flagship promise under the government’s 120-day social contract, is designed to tackle Ghana’s unemployment crisis by facilitating the creation of at least 10,000 new businesses every year — with a special focus on the country’s vibrant youth population.
According to the government, the Adwumawura Programme will serve as a critical catalyst in unlocking entrepreneurial potential, providing both financial and technical support to young Ghanaians seeking to build sustainable businesses.
In addition to Adwumawura, President Mahama is also scheduled to launch the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (Mahama Cares) and the National Apprenticeship Programme later this week, further signaling his administration’s commitment to job creation and improved social welfare.
These interventions are expected to not only create new opportunities but also bolster Ghana’s broader efforts to rebuild the economy and empower citizens at the grassroots level.
