President John Dramani Mahama is set to embark on a two-day working visit to the Volta Region, where he will inspect major infrastructure projects, commission new public facilities and engage residents as part of his nationwide Resetting Ghana Tour.
Scheduled for July 16 and 17, the visit is expected to focus on assessing the implementation of key government initiatives while strengthening interaction between the presidency and local communities on development priorities.
According to a statement issued by the Volta Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the President will begin the tour by cutting the sod for the proposed 24-Hour Economy Market at Juapong, a project aimed at boosting commerce, supporting local businesses and creating jobs.
Mr. Mahama will also inspect several ongoing infrastructure projects, including the Asikuma–Anyirawase Road, the UHAS By-pass and the Anyirawase–Ho Road, as government continues efforts to improve transportation and connectivity across the region.
The itinerary further includes a visit to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) Sokode Campus, where the President will assess progress on a multipurpose laboratory project expected to strengthen medical training, research and innovation.
In the education sector, he will inspect the newly completed 1,500-seat multipurpose assembly hall at Peki College of Education, while healthcare will also feature prominently during a durbar on the government’s Free Primary Health Care Programme at the Ho Municipal Hospital.
On the second day of the tour, President Mahama will inspect the Ho Sports Stadium as part of efforts to improve sports infrastructure and youth development.
He will also hold a Resetting Ghana Citizens’ Engagement at Ho Technical University, where traditional authorities, students, religious leaders, civil society organisations, business leaders, the media and members of the public are expected to interact directly with him on government policies and national development issues.
The President is also expected to commission the newly completed Akatsi North District Police Headquarters at Ave-Dakpa to strengthen policing and security service delivery in the district.
The regional tour will conclude with an inspection of the Ho–Denu Road Project, a major transport corridor expected to facilitate trade and improve mobility within the Volta Region.
The NDC Regional Secretariat said the visit underscores government’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development, expanding access to healthcare and education, improving public service delivery and maintaining close engagement with citizens as part of its broader national development agenda.
Residents across the Volta Region have been encouraged to participate in the scheduled activities and engage with the President during the tour.
