Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga has lauded President John Dramani Mahama’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), describing it as a message of hope despite the economic difficulties confronting the nation.
Following President Mahama’s address—his first in his second term—Ayariga acknowledged the country’s financial struggles but emphasized the optimism the speech has ignited among Ghanaians.
“The realities of our economic situation are dire, but His Excellency the President has given us a clear path forward,” Ayariga remarked. “His message resonates with all—our youth, women, private sector players, Okada riders, students, and the ordinary Ghanaian.”
According to Ayariga, Mahama’s vision has rekindled trust and confidence in leadership, with many seeing his commitments as a step towards economic recovery and national progress. He reiterated Parliament’s readiness to support the president’s policies aimed at reviving the economy and addressing key challenges.
Beyond hope, Ayariga stressed the need for accountability, insisting that those responsible for mismanaging the economy must face the consequences.
“This house will not only support His Excellency’s efforts to rebuild but will also ensure that those who have caused harm to our economy are held accountable,” he asserted.
As Ghana grapples with its economic future, Ayariga’s comments reflect the government’s focus on both restoring stability and enforcing responsibility among past and present leaders.
