The Minority in Parliament has strongly condemned an alleged intimidation attempt by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) against Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, the Ranking Member on Parliament’s Interior and Defence Committee and Member of Parliament for Assin South.
This follows a failed attempt by the NIB to arrest the MP at his residence in Accra on Wednesday, April 9, which came shortly after Fordjour made explosive allegations about two suspicious flights landing at Kotoka International Airport. Fordjour claimed the flights were involved in drug trafficking and money laundering activities.
Speaking to the media, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin expressed his unwavering support for Fordjour, calling the NIB’s actions politically motivated and aimed at silencing dissenting voices within Parliament.
Afenyo-Markin criticized the NIB for its attempt to suppress an elected representative and emphasized the Minority’s firm stance on transparency and accountability regarding the serious allegations raised by Fordjour. He insisted that the matter should be investigated thoroughly and in accordance with due process.
“The Minority will not be intimidated. We remain committed to ensuring that these allegations are properly addressed, and justice prevails,” Afenyo-Markin declared.
The Minority Leader also urged the public to remain vigilant and continue to support the call for justice and fairness in the face of such actions.
