As the Ghanaian cedi strengthens against major currencies, the Minority in Parliament is pressing the government to ensure that this currency appreciation translates into tangible benefits for everyday Ghanaians.
Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei, speaking at a recent media briefing, acknowledged the positive trend in exchange rates but emphasized the urgent need for concrete measures that will ease the country’s high cost of living.
“While the cedi’s gains are welcome, the real question is how these improvements are affecting prices on the ground,” Appiagyei said, highlighting public expectations for lower prices on imported goods and essential services.
The Minority’s call reflects widespread demand for government intervention to turn currency stability into meaningful economic relief, particularly for households burdened by inflation and rising expenses. As the cedi gains momentum, the pressure mounts on policymakers to deliver visible results that improve the daily lives of Ghanaians.
