The race for the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s future leadership appears to be gaining momentum for Dr. Bryan Acheampong, as influential party figures begin to publicly throw their support behind him.
The latest endorsement comes from former Asante Akim North MP, Andy Appiah-Kubi, who described the Abetifi lawmaker as a “symbol of victory” and a potential game-changer for the party.
In remarks captured in a video sighted by Citi News on Sunday, May 25, Appiah-Kubi argued that the NPP needs a fresh face with the capacity to reinvigorate the party’s electoral appeal—and he believes Dr. Acheampong fits the bill.
“Our task is to present a great candidate who can redeem our party, and Dr. Bryan Acheampong is preparing himself for that mission,” he stated confidently.
The former MP praised Acheampong’s multifaceted background, noting that his combined experience in governance, intellect, and private enterprise makes him a unique asset to the party.
“If we want someone with intellectual prowess, Bryan is the one. If we want a successful business mogul, he’s that too. So with him, we’re killing two birds with one stone,” Appiah-Kubi added.
Dr. Acheampong, a former Minister for Food and Agriculture and current Member of Parliament for Abetifi, has been steadily gaining visibility within the NPP as a potential flagbearer. Though he has not formally declared his intentions, party insiders say his rising influence and growing base of support signal a likely bid for leadership in the near future.
With this endorsement, Dr. Acheampong’s name is becoming more prominent in conversations about the party’s post-2024 trajectory—particularly as the NPP searches for a unifying figure capable of leading it into a new political era.
