Mukarama Abdulai is back in the Black Queens fold after a two-year absence as Ghana begin their campaign for qualification to the 2028 Olympic Games against Mauritius.
The Ünye Kadun forward headlines five players recalled by head coach Kim Lars Björkegren for the crucial second-round tie, following a period away from the national team largely disrupted by injuries.
Rose Teye Baah, Diana Amoako, Helen Alormenu and Nancy Amoh are the other returning players named in the 24-member squad.
Björkegren has also opened the door to new talent, handing maiden senior call-ups to Rabiatu Maltiti and Margaret Agyapomaa as he continues to reshape the Black Queens.
The squad largely retains its core from Ghana’s 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign in Morocco, with 17 players from that tournament included for the Olympic qualifiers.
Ghana, who received a bye in the first round, will face Mauritius over two legs for a place in the next stage of the qualification process.
The opening encounter is scheduled for October 8, with the return leg set for October 13 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Abdulai’s recall adds another attacking option to Björkegren’s squad as Ghana seek to gain an advantage in the first leg and strengthen their chances of progressing.
The forward previously featured prominently for Ghana at the FIFA U-17 and U-20 Women’s World Cups and emerged as one of the country’s promising attacking talents.
Her progress at senior level was subsequently disrupted by injuries, resulting in her extended absence from the Black Queens.
Her return, alongside the inclusion of new faces, gives Björkegren an opportunity to blend experience with emerging talent as Ghana pursue Olympic qualification.
The Black Queens will travel for the first leg on October 8 before Mauritius come to Accra five days later for the decisive return fixture.
