Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Ms. Ebi Bright, has reaffirmed that her political aspirations were never about personal ambition or party gains, but rather a deep-seated commitment to transforming the Tema community.
Speaking at a staff durbar organised by the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA), Ms. Bright reflected on her twelve-year journey in the political space, marked by multiple attempts to win the Tema Central parliamentary seat. She emphasized that her appointment as MCE is not a consolation prize but a culmination of her enduring dedication to the city and its people.
“You now call me a resilient woman, but the truth is I was never just trying to be a politician—I was determined to be a politician in Tema,” she said, adding that her choice to contest in a challenging constituency was deliberate and rooted in love for the community.
Ms. Bright addressed any perception of her new role as a fallback from electoral politics. “If I was chasing a political career or only party loyalty, I would have taken an easier route. But I stayed with Tema because this is where my heart is,” she stated.
She pledged to lead with transparency and inclusiveness, assuring residents of an open-door policy that welcomes contributions from all—irrespective of political affiliations.
Grateful for her new mandate, Ms. Bright thanked former President John Dramani Mahama for trusting her to take the lead in Tema’s development, describing it as the fulfilment of the first part of her long-standing dream to make a difference in the city.
“He understood that I wasn’t tired—I was just waiting for the opportunity to serve Tema directly. Now I’ve got it, and I’m ready to deliver,” she said.
