Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has publicly praised President John Mahama for his decision to forgive Sammy Gyamfi, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, following a widely circulated video that sparked intense public backlash.
In a passionate video posted on her Instagram page on May 14, Agradaa expressed her relief and gratitude, celebrating the President’s leniency. She declared, “God of Thunder. God bless John Mahama. My fear was that Sammy Gyamfi would lose his job because of this incident. But my God did not disappoint me. Haters have been shamed. John Mahama, may God give you long life. Oseyie! Sammy Gyamfi has become victorious. We thank Jesus.”
Agradaa, known for her dramatic online persona, was seen pouring powder over her head as a symbolic act of thanksgiving, a gesture that has since gone viral and sparked fresh social media conversations.
The video that ignited the controversy featured Agradaa receiving U.S. dollar bills from Gyamfi during what appeared to be an informal encounter. The clip quickly drew criticism from civil society groups and the public, with many questioning the ethical implications for a high-ranking public official to be seen distributing cash in such a manner.
Following the uproar, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, issued an official query to Gyamfi. However, after receiving his written apology, the Presidency opted for leniency, with Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, confirming that no further disciplinary action would be taken.
“The Presidency does not believe that any further action ought to be taken beyond the apology and the caution. Mr. Sammy Gyamfi has committed to ensuring that such an incident does not recur,” Kwakye Ofosu said in a statement.
The incident has not only sparked intense public debate over standards in public office but also highlighted the influence of figures like Agradaa in shaping political narratives.
For Agradaa, this latest twist marks yet another chapter in her eventful public life, blending spiritual theatrics with political endorsements.
