The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has called on Ghanaian schoolchildren to embrace patriotism, integrity and responsible citizenship as part of efforts to build a stronger and more progressive nation.
The message was delivered during an engagement with pupils of Sekondi Presbyterian School as part of activities marking this year’s Constitution Week Celebration.
Speaking to the students, the Deputy Chairman of the NCCE, Victor K. Brobbey, encouraged them to cultivate honesty and ethical values, stressing that responsible conduct is essential for both personal success and national development.
He urged the pupils to prioritise the collective interest of the country and avoid behaviours that could undermine their future and Ghana’s progress.
“You will be here in the next twenty years ahead of us. Be more patriotic, care for each other and become great professionals doing marvellous things for the country. Our collective resolve for progress is very cardinal,” he said.
Mr Brobbey explained that Constitution Week provides an opportunity for the Commission to educate citizens, particularly young people, on the provisions of the 1992 Constitution, their rights and responsibilities, and the civic duties expected of every Ghanaian.
He also pledged to continue engaging the students through periodic visits to mentor them on career development and leadership, with the aim of helping to nurture a skilled and responsible future workforce.
The Constitution Week outreach forms part of the NCCE’s nationwide campaign to deepen constitutional awareness, strengthen democratic values and promote active citizenship among Ghanaians, especially the younger generation.
