The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is mourning the death of one of its long-serving regional leaders, Joseph Kobina Ade Coker, who passed away on Saturday, May 31, at the Bank Hospital after a brief illness.
Ade Coker, a prominent figure in the NDC’s Greater Accra politics, served as Regional Chairman from 2009 until 2022. His leadership spanned over a decade, marked by his strong organizational presence and grassroots engagement within the party.
Though he lost his re-election bid to current chairman Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore in 2022, Ade Coker remained a respected voice in the party and in Ghanaian public life.
Beyond politics, he was also known for his role in sports administration, having once served as Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association, where he contributed to the development of football in the country.
The NDC is expected to issue an official statement and pay tribute to Ade Coker’s legacy in the coming days. His passing adds to the growing list of political stalwarts the party and nation have lost in recent times.
