Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has reiterated the government’s commitment to completing all development projects initiated by previous administrations, stressing the importance of utilising taxpayers’ funds effectively for public benefit.
Addressing chiefs and residents of Adankwame near Barekese in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District during his ‘thank you’ tour of the Ashanti Region, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah emphasized that while governments change periodically, citizens remain consistent in fulfilling their tax obligations, making it imperative that projects funded by public resources are fully implemented.
He expressed concern over the frequent abandonment of development initiatives when government transitions occur, saying such wastage must be prevented. “It is the responsibility of every government to ensure that projects started with taxpayers’ money are completed and serve their intended purpose,” he said.
The NDC chairman also assured citizens that the government would uphold principles of fairness and equality, ensuring that national resources and employment opportunities are allocated without political bias, favoritism, or discrimination.
He acknowledged the party’s growing support in the Ashanti Region, where the NDC secured 35 percent of votes—higher than the usual 25–27 percent in past presidential elections—thanking residents for their confidence.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah urged all District, Municipal, and Metropolitan Assemblies to execute legacy projects using their allocated common funds, noting that 80 percent of such funds have already been disbursed.
Echoing the chairman’s commitment, Mr. Mba Zechariah Alenbilla, District Chief Executive, highlighted ongoing infrastructure projects, including road construction, school block development, health centres, mechanized boreholes, and sanitation programs in Asamang, Barekese, Asuofua, Amakye Bare, and Adankwame.
Constituency Vice Chairperson Mr. Patrick Kojo Wassaw emphasized the need for the government to honour campaign promises to maintain public confidence, cautioning that failure to deliver on commitments could be perceived as a breach of trust by the electorate.
The remarks underscore the NDC’s broader agenda of ensuring continuity in development projects and promoting equitable access to national resources across Ghana.
