In a notable crossover from political advocacy to public administration, Alhaji Mohammed Naziru, a leading voice within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been appointed as the Deputy Executive Secretary of the National Identification Authority (NIA).
Alhaji Naziru, who also serves as the Director of Communications for the NDC’s National Zongo Caucus, brings to the role a wealth of experience in grassroots mobilization and strategic communications—skills that will be crucial in strengthening the NIA’s ongoing efforts to build a comprehensive and inclusive national ID system.
His appointment is being viewed as a strategic step towards bridging policy and community needs, particularly in traditionally underserved areas like the Zongo communities, where he has long championed development and representation.
With national identification playing an increasingly critical role in access to services, digital governance, and security, Alhaji Naziru’s community-focused leadership is expected to help boost public trust and participation in the NIA’s programs.
Observers say his transition into the NIA also reflects the broader trend of tapping politically experienced individuals to drive citizen-centered reforms in public institutions.
