A Bono Regional women’s organiser hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hajia Samira Sulley, has pledged to revitalise the party’s women’s wing and strengthen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Hajia Sulley made the commitment when she engaged former women organisers from the Berekum East, Sunyani East, Dormaa East and Jaman South constituencies in the Bono Region.
She said the women’s wing remained one of the party’s most important structures for mobilising support, recruiting members and engaging female voters at the grassroots.
According to her, the NPP must strengthen its women’s structures and intensify outreach to women if it is to successfully reclaim political power in the 2028 elections.
She noted that women constituted a significant proportion of Ghana’s population and therefore remained a critical voting bloc that the party could not afford to overlook.
Hajia Sulley said the women’s wing also provided an important platform for political participation and leadership, as well as an avenue to influence gender-related policies and promote women’s socio-economic interests.
She pledged to ensure that the wing remained active and vibrant despite the party’s current position in opposition.
A key part of her agenda, she said, would be to mobilise women at the grassroots, strengthen constituency-level structures and build a stronger relationship between the party’s leadership and female supporters.
Hajia Sulley also promised to mobilise financial resources to support the activities of the women’s wing, saying her local and international networks would be used to help fund political activities in the region.
“I believe every woman matters, every constituency matters and every member has a role to play in winning the Election 2028,” she said.
She said she was prepared to work closely with women, restore hope and build a united party structure where members felt valued and included.
“Together, let us rise with one purpose and one heart to build a resilient front for the NPP to regain political power in the next General Election,” she added.
Hajia Sulley said her leadership would focus on empowering women to become more active participants in the party’s political activities.
“In fact, leadership isn’t about being in front but it’s about lifting others along the way,” she said.
Former NPP women’s organiser Nana Felecia Adomah Peprah expressed appreciation to Hajia Sulley for engaging former women organisers.
She regretted that some former women organisers had felt neglected in the party’s activities since 2008.
Nana Peprah pledged the former organisers’ support for Hajia Sulley and urged her to continue building strong relationships with party members.
She said the aspirant’s human relations skills could help make the NPP more attractive to women and strengthen the party’s connection with its female supporters.
The engagement forms part of Hajia Sulley’s efforts to build support among delegates and present her vision for a more active, inclusive and better-resourced women’s wing in the Bono Region.
