Newly elected National First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kojo Fosu Boadu, popularly known as Kojo Bamba, has called for unity among party members as the NPP begins preparations to reclaim power in the 2028 general elections.
Mr Boadu said the conclusion of the party’s internal elections should mark the beginning of a collective effort to strengthen the NPP and consolidate its support across the country.
In a statement dated October 5, 2026, he thanked delegates and party members who supported his campaign and expressed appreciation for the confidence they had reposed in him.
“I am deeply humbled and profoundly grateful to have been elected as the National First Vice Chairperson of our great party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP). I do not take this mandate for granted,” he said.
Mr Boadu said although candidates competed against one another during the elections, the contest should not create lasting divisions within the party.
“We may have competed against one another, but at the end of the day, we are one family, united by one common purpose: the success of the New Patriotic Party. The contest is over. Now is the time to unite,” he said.
He therefore urged all members and supporters to put the internal contest behind them and work together towards strengthening the party’s structures and electoral prospects.
Mr Boadu also called on party members to rally behind the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as the party prepares for the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.
“We have a flagbearer in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and we must all rally behind him with renewed commitment, discipline and hard work as we seek to lead the NPP back to power in 2028,” he said.
His call comes as the newly elected national executives assume responsibility for leading the party’s reorganisation and mobilisation following the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Mr Boadu pledged to justify the confidence placed in him and contribute to the party’s efforts to strengthen its unity and electoral machinery ahead of the next general election.
