Managing Director of TDC Ghana Limited, Mr. Courage Makafui Nunekpeku, has publicly refuted claims of unlawful land seizure and military intimidation linked to a development project in Community 25, Tema.
The MD described a recent report by 3News.com as misleading and damaging to his reputation, signaling intentions to pursue legal remedies against both the news outlet and the reporter responsible.
The controversy arises from a lawsuit filed by homeowner Derrick Hope Gidzi, who asserts that he lawfully acquired Plots 3 and 4 HOS over a decade ago and that Mr. Nunekpeku, allegedly backed by armed military personnel, encroached on the land to commence construction without consent.
Court documents reveal that Mr. Gidzi has sought an interlocutory injunction to halt further development and sale of the contested property, warning that the ongoing construction of commercial shops risks causing irreversible harm to his interests. Video evidence shared with 3News.com reportedly shows active construction, including nighttime work.
Responding to the allegations in a phone conversation with 3News.com, Mr. Nunekpeku emphatically denied any wrongdoing. “I don’t grab land. I don’t work in the night,” he stated, expressing frustration that his perspective was omitted from the published report.
He criticized the media for failing to contact him prior to publication, accusing the outlet of rushing to print a one-sided story that harms his public image.
As the legal battle unfolds, stakeholders await further developments while the dispute highlights ongoing tensions surrounding land ownership and development rights in the area.
