The Volta Impact Alliance has called for professionalism, due process, and fairness in the ongoing Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) investigation involving Dr. Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple, following allegations of misconduct and a disputed GH¢57 million gold transaction.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Zikpuitor Michael Agbolosu, speaking on behalf of the advocacy group, appealed to EOCO’s head, Raymond Archer—a native of the Volta Region—to handle the matter transparently and impartially, warning that mishandling could reinforce negative perceptions about Voltarians failing to support one another.
“Our appeal is guided by the desire to strengthen unity within the region and to avoid reinforcing the unfortunate perception that Voltarians do not support one another’s progress,” Agbolosu said. “A fair and transparent approach will build confidence among our people and promote a spirit of collective advancement.”
The Alliance highlighted Dr. Kwamigah-Atokple’s notable contributions to regional development, including donations of motorbikes and air conditioners to the Ketu North (Weta) Hospital, drilling a borehole for the Avalavi community, establishing the Sesi-Edem Football Academy, and supporting the Edem Agbana Scholarship. He has also facilitated business partnerships to attract investment to the Volta Region.
Agbolosu warned that public vilification of key contributors could discourage young entrepreneurs and professionals from engaging in public service or investing in regional development. He stressed that Dr. Kwamigah-Atokple’s role as a member of the Council of State carries national significance and that his reputation directly influences the Volta Region’s image and credibility.
“Together, let us choose unity over division, progress over suspicion, and development over internal conflict. The future of the Volta Region depends on it,” Agbolosu concluded.
Mamaga Ablewor IV, a traditional leader, also weighed in, reminding the public that “accusations are not convictions” and urging respect for the judicial process. She assured Dr. Kwamigah-Atokple of her full support and commitment to restoring his reputation, emphasizing that safeguarding his integrity is a shared responsibility.
The Volta Impact Alliance’s intervention underscores the importance of balancing accountability with protection for individuals contributing to regional growth, advocating that investigations proceed within the framework of law, fairness, and respect for due process.
