In a bid to strengthen regional security and accelerate development, the Western North Regional Minister, Mr. Wilbert Petty Brentum, has reiterated the government’s commitment to resourcing the police and other security agencies operating in the region.
His assurance came during a working visit to the Western North Regional Police Command as part of activities marking the West Africa Securities Association celebration. The visit, which also served as a platform for dialogue between the Regional Coordinating Council and security leadership, focused heavily on the nexus between peace and socio-economic development.
Addressing officers at the event, Mr. Brentum applauded the security agencies for their vigilance and swift response to incidents that could threaten peace. “Development thrives in an atmosphere of stability,” he said. “That is why the Regional Coordinating Council is committed to equipping our security agencies with the logistics and support they need to perform at their best.”
The Minister emphasized that unity among residents must be protected and encouraged, urging community leaders, youth, and residents to work hand-in-hand with law enforcement to sustain the peace the region enjoys.
For his part, the Western North Regional Police Commander, Dr. Francis Tsidi, provided assurance that the security situation remains calm and firmly under control. He noted that the Command had activated multiple checkpoints and security strategies to deter criminal activity and enhance public safety.
“We are deploying personnel strategically across key areas in the region. The public can trust that our men and women are committed to their duty,” Dr. Tsidi said.
He also expressed appreciation to the Regional Minister for his visit and pledged continued collaboration between the police and local authorities to uphold peace and promote confidence among the populace.
The visit underscored the growing recognition among public officials that security is not just a safety imperative, but also a development enabler. With renewed partnerships between civic leaders and law enforcement, the Western North Region is positioning itself for stable growth and community resilience.
