Former Karaga Member of Parliament (MP) Alhassan Sualihu Dandaawa has expressed strong confidence that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will reclaim the Karaga parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2028 general election.
Dandaawa said the NDC’s confidence was anchored in what he described as the development and empowerment initiatives undertaken by the government of President John Dramani Mahama in the constituency.
Addressing supporters, the former MP said the NDC had regained its strength in the area and was prepared to take the seat from the incumbent MP, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam.
“We will let Dr Mohammed Amin Adam know that the Karaga seat belongs to the NDC and not the NPP,” he declared.
Dandaawa said the performance of the Mahama administration in Karaga had strengthened the NDC’s prospects ahead of the next parliamentary election.
“With the kind of work President John Mahama has done in Karaga, even if we present a dog as our candidate, it will win the 2028 general election,” he said.
He further pointed to what he described as the President’s support for NDC structures and members across various sectors, arguing that the party had been sufficiently empowered to mount a strong campaign to regain the constituency.
“John Mahama has empowered us in various sectors, and we are ready to take back the seat from the NPP,” he stated.
Beyond the electoral contest, Dandaawa promised residents that an NDC victory would bring increased development projects to the constituency.
He said the party would continue to push for projects aimed at transforming the area, expressing confidence that Karaga would witness significant development before the end of President Mahama’s tenure.
“Expect more projects from the NDC for the development of Karaga, and before the end of John Mahama’s tenure, Karaga will be developed massively,” he said.
Dandaawa made the remarks after presenting a Toyota Voxy to the NDC Karaga Constituency Chairman in recognition of what he described as the chairman’s dedication, sacrifice and commitment to the party.
The gesture, he said, was intended to acknowledge the contribution of the constituency leadership to strengthening the NDC’s presence and activities in Karaga.
With the 2028 elections still ahead, Dandaawa’s comments signal the NDC’s determination to make the recovery of the Karaga parliamentary seat a key objective in the next electoral contest.
