Theophilus Dzimegah Jnr., a legal practitioner and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team, has rubbished claims suggesting that the NDC is behind the ongoing petition process targeting Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.
In an interview on GHOne TV’s GHToday with host Lily Mohammed, Dzimegah described the allegations as baseless and politically driven, stating that the opposition party has no involvement in the matter.
He questioned the narrative being pushed, highlighting the conspicuous silence from key judicial bodies. “There has been silence from the Association of Judges and Magistrates, silence from the judicial staff. That should tell us something—it has nothing to do with the NDC,” he said.
Dzimegah argued that the judiciary is a resilient institution with well-informed officials who would not allow political manipulation to dictate their actions. “You think that the CJ is to be removed, and other justices of the Supreme Court will take this lightly and say, ‘Hey, this is the whims and caprices of the NDC, so let us just join the NDC to remove her’? No,” he insisted.
He stressed that the NDC remains committed to national development and governance issues and has no intention of meddling in judicial matters.
