The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a strong reminder to its members to strictly comply with approved guidelines governing the party’s internal elections, warning that disciplinary action will be taken against anyone who flouts the rules.
The caution follows the adoption of formal regulations to guide the conduct of internal electoral processes as the party prepares for upcoming organisational contests.
Speaking to Citi News on Sunday, April 19, 2026, the NDC Deputy General Secretary, Mustapha Gbande, stressed the importance of adhering to the party’s electoral calendar and procedures to ensure orderliness and fairness.
He explained that aspirants must operate within designated timelines for campaigns and other electoral activities, depending on the specific positions they intend to contest.
“It is good for people to want to run various positions in the party. But, in accordance with the party’s timelines, we must watch and read the calendar so that, within the season, if you are running for a branch election, then obviously you would be campaigning for that position within the context of the timetable that the party has put out,” he said.
He further warned that any deviation from the approved schedule would attract sanctions from the party leadership.
“And so if you do anything contrary to that, then you get yourself in a position where the party would then have to take certain decisions to ensure that members conform with the rules and procedures of the party,” he added.
The party’s directive forms part of broader efforts to maintain discipline, ensure transparency, and promote fairness as it undertakes key internal organisational activities ahead of future elections.
