The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Dome Kwabenya has dismissed allegations of election manipulation leveled against them by a group calling itself the Concerned Youth of NPP in the constituency.
At a press conference held on Thursday, Constituency Chairman Robert Osei Bonsu categorically denied accusations that 600 polling station executives were unlawfully removed from the party album. He emphasized that a national-level committee, not the constituency executives, oversaw polling station elections and refuted claims of interference.
“When this allegation was brought to the attention of the national officers in 2022, they requested evidence, yet none was provided. Even recently, they were challenged again to submit the names of the 600 members allegedly removed, but they failed to do so,” Mr. Bonsu stated.
The constituency leadership insisted that elections were conducted fairly and transparently and accused certain individuals of deliberately misrepresenting facts for political gain.
Dome Kwabenya NPP Leadership Blames Adwoa Safo for 2024 Election Loss
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) leadership in Dome Kwabenya has pointed fingers at former Member of Parliament Sarah Adwoa Safo, blaming her absence from constituency activities for the party’s defeat in the 2024 parliamentary elections.
During a press conference on Thursday, the constituency chairman, Robert Osei Bonsu, accused Adwoa Safo of neglecting her responsibilities, both as an MP and party member, leading to voter apathy and a loss of support.
“Our former MP abandoned us when we needed her most. She refused to participate in party activities, left the country without informing her constituents, and even rejected reconciliation attempts from national party leaders. Her inaction was a major factor in our loss,” Mr. Bonsu stated.
The leadership also accused Ms. Safo of indirectly supporting the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), alleging that she provided campaign resources meant for NPP supporters to the NDC candidate.
Call for Unity Amid Post-Election Tensions
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Dome Kwabenya is calling for unity within its ranks following internal conflicts that have emerged after the 2024 elections. At a press conference, constituency leaders addressed accusations from the Concerned Youth of NPP, dismissed claims of election malpractice, and urged party members to focus on rebuilding for the future.
Acting Constituency Secretary Otu-Addo stressed the importance of moving past internal grievances, stating, “We recognize the challenges that led to our loss, but finger-pointing and false accusations will not help us regain our seat. We need an all-hands-on-deck approach to rebuild trust and position NPP for victory in 2028.”
The leadership pledged to remain open to dialogue and constructive criticism but warned against indiscipline and misinformation, emphasizing the party’s commitment to strengthening its base.
