The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has firmly denied the authenticity of widely circulated quotes purporting to be from the Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee Report, describing them as “fabrications” by political detractors aimed at sowing discord within the party.
Speaking at a press briefing, General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong stated unequivocally that only a single copy of the report—commissioned to probe the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections—exists and remains under review by the National Council. He cautioned the public and party faithful to disregard any alleged excerpts circulating online.
“These so-called leaks are strategic misinformation by our political opponents, particularly the NDC,” Frimpong asserted, adding that the NPP remains focused on introspection and restructuring as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.
The party also used the opportunity to warn its executives, communicators, and leading members to avoid premature endorsements or attacks on potential presidential hopefuls, as the code of conduct forbids such actions before nominations are officially opened. The leadership promised sanctions for any breach.
In a proactive move to modernize its internal governance, the NPP has also established a nine-member Constitutional Amendment Committee to streamline and update its party constitution. Chaired by lawyer Frank Davies, the committee includes influential figures such as MPs Patricia Appiagyei and Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, and will be tasked with aligning the party’s laws with findings from both the Oquaye Committee and earlier review processes.
The committee will present its proposals at an Extraordinary Delegates Conference in July, where motions for constitutional amendments will be debated and voted on.
As internal assessments continue, party leaders are urging unity and vigilance, framing the next few months as critical for the NPP’s renewal and strategic positioning.
