The New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Hohoe Constituency has expressed confidence that its upcoming constituency executive elections will be conducted peacefully, with all arrangements in place to ensure a smooth exercise.
The Constituency Director of Research and Elections, Henry Ametefe, said the July 11 polls would provide a relaxed environment for candidates and delegates to participate without tension or disruptions.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Ametefe said delegates are expected to follow the laid-down electoral guidelines and ensure the process is conducted in an orderly manner.
He noted that the Electoral Commission (EC) would supervise the election, while security arrangements had been made to maintain peace and protect the integrity of the exercise.
According to him, some positions have already attracted no opposition, but candidates for those slots will still require approval from delegates through a “Yes or No” voting process.
“The Chairman and Deputy Secretary positions are going unopposed, but delegates will have the opportunity to vote either Yes or No to confirm the candidates,” he said.
A total of 1,127 delegates are expected to participate in the election, comprising 1,015 polling station executives, 85 electoral area executives, 17 constituency executives, five members of the Council of Elders and five representatives from the Council of Patrons.
Mr Ametefe disclosed that the election will take place at the St Francis College of Education and urged all participants to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the polls.
He stressed that the focus should remain on strengthening party structures and ensuring a successful electoral process at the constituency level.
