Mr. Yaw Dabie Appiah Mensah, a senior member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Bono Region, has called on party supporters to remain hopeful despite the party’s defeat in the 2024 General Election.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Odomase, Sunyani West Municipality, Mr. Mensah emphasized the need to rebrand the party and continue promoting its ideologies. He strongly advocated for former Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to be retained as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 election, warning that failing to do so could be politically costly.
He attributed the NPP’s loss to voter apathy and internal party challenges, stressing the importance of unity and reconciliation. “We must come together, forgive each other, and rebuild our political base,” he urged.
Mr. Mensah, a former regional organizer of the then Brong-Ahafo Region, further advised that party members ready for retirement should step aside to allow dedicated members to lead the party’s rebranding efforts ahead of 2028.
