The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced an emergency meeting of its National Executive Committee (NEC), set to take place on Monday, 7 July 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the party’s national headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra.
The meeting, sanctioned by the party’s National Second Vice Chairperson, Rita Talata Asobayire, was confirmed in a formal notice signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong.
Though the NPP has not publicly detailed the full agenda, insiders say the recent developments and internal disputes in the Ablekuma North constituency will be a central focus. The party is also expected to discuss broader matters of strategic importance ahead of upcoming political activities.
Ablekuma North has recently drawn national attention following the Electoral Commission’s controversial decision to rerun elections in 19 polling stations—a move the NPP is legally contesting. The party argues that the EC overstepped its mandate by planning a rerun without a court order, a stance that has deepened internal discussions over electoral fairness and party cohesion.
Monday’s NEC meeting is seen as critical to restoring calm, reaffirming party unity, and clarifying the leadership’s next steps in response to growing electoral and legal tensions. Political observers note that how the party manages the Ablekuma North situation could shape its image and internal momentum ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Key executives, regional representatives, and political strategists are expected to attend the high-level meeting, which may produce a formal party statement in its aftermath.
