As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) gears up for its presidential primaries, the party leadership is taking decisive steps to ensure order and unity within its ranks.
In a recent statement, the party announced plans to convene a joint meeting with all declared presidential aspirants, signaling a move to foster cohesion and address key issues ahead of the contest.
Scheduled for July 3, 2025, the meeting will bring together the aspirants alongside the NPP Steering Committee and the National Council of Elders. This gathering aims to create a platform for dialogue on shared concerns and the way forward in the lead-up to the primaries.
Meanwhile, the party is also reinforcing disciplinary measures internally. Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, the Bono Regional Chairman, has been formally referred to the NPP’s National Disciplinary Committee. This action follows concerns over his public remarks that reportedly breached directives issued by the National Council, which had cautioned him against making unguarded comments.
In addition, the party has ordered an immediate suspension of all caucuses or associations involving current and former party executives or government appointees meeting privately with presidential aspirants. Such activities have been deemed violations of party regulations designed to safeguard fairness and unity during the primaries.
General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong reiterated the importance of maintaining party cohesion, reminding all members of their constitutional duty to uphold unity and avoid conduct that could undermine the party’s solidarity.
With these measures, the NPP leadership is clearly signaling a firm stance on discipline and collective responsibility, as it seeks to manage internal dynamics ahead of one of the party’s most critical electoral processes.
