Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), particularly those in the diaspora, to rekindle their commitment to party activities and help rebuild unity as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.
Addressing NPP supporters in the United Kingdom, Mr. Assafuah said internal apathy and disunity could cost the party victory in 2028 if members fail to work collectively and strategically. He reminded the gathering that the NPP’s return to power would depend on the active participation of every member, both at home and abroad.
“We have our destinies in our hands, and we need to make sure that we win the 2028 elections,” he said. “If we don’t ensure that we win, then we will have ourselves to blame.”
The Old Tafo legislator urged members not to withdraw from party activities after elections, noting that consistent engagement — especially in digital spaces — was essential to shaping public perception. He highlighted social media as a critical battleground that could determine up to half of the 2028 election outcome.
“Social media will play 40 to 50 percent of the 2028 elections, and so if we lose there, then we have a problem,” he cautioned, urging supporters to emulate the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in maintaining a strong presence online even while in opposition.
Mr. Assafuah further appealed for unity ahead of the party’s 2026 flagbearer election, stressing that internal cohesion and discipline would be crucial to presenting a credible and united front to Ghanaians.
He encouraged the rank and file of the NPP to put aside personal differences and work toward a common goal, saying the strength of the party lies in its ability to stay together and communicate effectively with the electorate.
