Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has stated that he is prepared to step down as the National Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if President John Mahama deems it necessary.
Speaking in an interview on Citi FM, Opare Addo, popularly known as Pablo, emphasized that balancing a ministerial role with party leadership is not unprecedented.
“I’m not the first national officer to hold a ministerial position. When Haruna Iddrisu was Communication Minister, he remained the NDC’s Youth Organiser until a new person was elected,” he noted.
While expressing his commitment to both roles, he assured that if the demands became overwhelming, he would make a decision in the best interest of the party and governance.
“If it ever becomes too much for me, I will step down. But for now, I am capable of handling both responsibilities,” he added.
Despite discussions about his dual roles, Opare Addo reaffirmed his dedication to youth development initiatives, stressing that his focus remains on empowering young people while continuing his service within the NDC.
